FAQ
Fair questions, straight answers.
- Are you an authorized service center?
- No, deliberately. Hazen Watch Co. is an independent watch service, not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any watch manufacturer. That independence is why we can preserve original parts, talk to you directly, and turn work around in 2–4 weeks instead of months.
- Will independent service void my warranty?
- If your watch is still under factory warranty, independent service can affect it, which is why our niche is out-of-warranty, vintage, and gray-market watches. If yours is still under warranty, we'll tell you and suggest you weigh that first.
- What parts do you use?
- Original parts are preserved wherever possible. That's the point. When replacement is unavoidable, we use genuine parts when they're available to independent watchmakers, and otherwise quality parts that meet or match original specifications. Either way, your written estimate states exactly which, before you approve anything.
- How long will it take?
- Typically 2–4 weeks from arrival to return shipment. Parts-dependent jobs (especially vintage) can take longer; your estimate includes a realistic date, and you'll hear from us if anything changes.
- How does mail-in work? Is it insured?
- You ship to us with declared-value insurance and signature confirmation (we send full packing instructions), and the watch returns the same way. Both directions are documented with photos and a written condition record.
- What watches do you accept?
- Mechanical watches: vintage and modern automatics, hand-wound calibers, and chronographs, including Rolex, Omega, Seiko, and ETA/Sellita/Valjoux-based watches, plus custom builds on genuine Seiko bases. We don't service quartz smartwatches, and we only work on genuine watches.
- What does the free assessment include?
- A written condition report and a timing-machine trace, done before any commitment. If you decline the estimate, the assessment is still free. You only cover return shipping.
- Do you do custom Seiko builds?
- Yes, bespoke builds and mods on genuine Seiko bases using quality unbranded components: dials, chapter rings, hands, bezels, crystals, cases. No third-party branding ever appears on a build.
